I am an introvert, pure and simple. Although I spent the majority of my adult life hiding this fact from others, my greatest joy has been in learning about my introvert traits and embracing all they bring to my life. I have walked the path of coming out of my shell and stepping into life fully and joyfully, one adventure at a time.
From an early age I knew I was different. Quite frankly, I thought I was broken. My wounds kept me in a self-imposed prison—afraid of trying much of anything new— until I found the key to unlock my true spirit and began living life according to my dreams.
Introversion is a personality trait that one is born with. One cannot decide to be or not to be an introvert. One of the chief characteristics of the trait is the enjoyment, and even need for being alone, and having plenty of time to spend inside ones mind. Introverts enjoy people in small doses and tend to avoid large social situations. They are not misfits…they are the thinkers and problem solvers of the world. Our world could not function well without them.
I hold several degrees and Certifications beginning with a B.A. in Social Science, Teaching Credentials, Administrative Credentials, and Master of Arts, in Counseling. I have worked in a zillion different careers, and find everything about life fascinating.
I am currently working on my first book, The Adventurous Introvert which chronicles not only my life but the lives of others who have had to overcome aspects of their introversion. The book gives humor, insight and hope to those struggling with similar challenges, and gives specific strategies for releasing oneself from their chains to help guide them toward living life on their terms.
